The children’s home is a 5‑beded facility for males and females aged 8‑18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties and other complex needs. It is situated between Mildenhall and Lakenheath in the Forest Heath District. The home seeks to provide a safe and understanding ethos in which the young person can be assisted to address their behaviours and take responsibility for their own actions through a holistic therapeutic approach.
Our home has a small holding where we keep farm animals that provide environmental enrichment for our young people. Our staff and young people help to look after these.
Due to the nature of this role, a full UK driving licence is required.
Requirements
A Level 3 Qualification in Children’s Residential and Childcare is essential, as well as previous experience within a residential childcare setting. The following characteristics are also required:
* Resilience – you will support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and other associated difficulties.
* Communication – communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
* Organisation – as well as supervising the staff team you’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
* Caring – our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
