Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Supermarket Manager to lead our Nigerian/Caribbean supermarket. As the key figure in daily operations, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, and overseeing the efficient running of the store. Your role will involve maintaining high standards in product quality, stock management, and presentation while promoting a welcoming shopping environment that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian and Caribbean communities.
Responsibilities
* Oversee daily supermarket operations, ensuring smooth and efficient store performance.
* Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding customer service.
* Ensure shelves are fully stocked with fresh, authentic Nigerian and Caribbean products.
* Monitor stock levels, manage ordering, and liaise with suppliers to ensure product availability.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety across the store.
* Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and friendly manner.
* Implement merchandising strategies to enhance the shopping experience and promote special offers.
* Manage financial transactions, daily cash handling, and sales reporting.
* Develop strategies to increase sales and customer loyalty.
* Enforce health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the supermarket environment.
* Collaborate with senior management on business growth, promotions, and community engagement.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in supermarket, retail, or grocery management is essential.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Knowledge of Nigerian and Caribbean food products and cultural shopping preferences is highly desirable.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
* Proficiency in basic financial management, inventory systems, and point-of-sale software.
* Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy trading periods.
* A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for food, culture, and community service.
