Overview

Education Mentor - Leeds (Volunteer) at The King\'s Trust. This is a volunteer role offering an opportunity to support young people in the Leeds area.


Responsibilities

* Deliver 8 mentoring sessions over 8 weeks with a consistent group of young people (ages 11–16).
* Facilitate sessions focused on communication, goal setting and problem solving; sessions typically last 1 hour and take place in a secondary school environment.
* Collaborate with your King\'s Trust Youth Development Lead for guidance and resources; develop and review weekly session plans.
* Choose a school that fits your availability; consistent attendance is important and timing is determined by the school.
* Be aware that school locations are in and around Leeds and Yorkshire (approximately 45 minutes travel from Leeds); confirmed locations include Wakefield (WF1) and Bradford (BD2).


Qualifications and Requirements

* Educational background is not required, but a genuine interest in engaging with and developing the skills of young people is essential.
* Key skills: effective communication, organisation and reliability.
* Full training provided; in-person training is required, plus some virtual training.
* Disclosure Check: Enhanced (the Trust conducts checks; having a criminal record will not automatically exclude applicants).

* Term of opportunity: Minimum 3 months starting in September 2025, with the option to participate in more programmes from September 2025 onwards.
* Commitment: Around 1 hour per week, plus additional planning and travel time.
* Location: Schools within ~45 minutes of Leeds; see job advert for more information.
