Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Learning Disability Senior Support Worker based at Trindlemoss House.
What you will do:
Trindlemoss House supports adults who have learning disabilities and other support needs including autism. We use a Positive Behavioural Support Model to enable, support and encourage residents to work towards being as independent as possible within a homely environment.
Each of the 6 residents has their own self-contained flat where they are supported by our team of nurses and support workers according to their unique support needs and the outcomes they, and those who are important to them, wish to work towards. We also have access to several multi-purpose rooms including a sensory room, at the adjacent Trindlemoss Day Opportunities
* To be a member of the nursing team providing highly specialised care, support and supervision to People with a Learning Disability with additional complex needs and who have specific support requirements in relation to health & wellbeing and behaviours which at times can be severely challenging.
* To increase the individuals’ quality of life and reduce behaviours perceived as challenging by providing person-centred care, using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and implementing the following PBS principles: non-judgemental attitude, effective communication, using pro-active strategies avoiding the use of restrictive practices, problem solving and skill teaching.
* To support the delivery of care within the Unit registered as a care home at Trindlemoss and in the wider community settings, working on a one to one basis with residents as documented in individualised care plans.
* To assist the registered nurses to ensure that the physical setting is safe, clean and conducive to a homely and welcoming environment.
* To support the registered Nurses to ensure all training is provided and kept up to date and undertake audits and checks as necessary to comply with quality and assurance e.g. infection and prevention control
* To contribute to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of residents by being an active and supporting member of the team.
* To be an active member of the care team, supporting the residents through the promotion of independence (as appropriate to the resident) and planned programmes of care. Treating all residents with respect and courtesy, maintaining dignity and respecting individual needs and differences, both physical and cultural.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
* Formal qualification at HNC level or equivalent level of experience in a health/education/social care environment plus short specialist courses, relevant to the service area
* Excellent communication both verbal and written
* Good understanding and knowledge and experience of working with individuals with Learning Disability
* Ability to work as part of a team
* To be flexible, enthusiastic and motivated to develop own skills and knowledge
* Time management skills
* To have knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
* To have knowledge of person centred approaches
* To maintain mandatory and statutory training requirements
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to carry out assigned tasks to the expected standard in a busy environment
* The ability to conduct oneself safely within a challenging/risky situation

Hours: 37 – Fixed Term for 3 months
Day Shift/Night Shift
7 shifts a fortnight:
Week 1 = 3 shifts
