Job Description
New Directions is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Trafford. This is a long-term opportunity, ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access education.
The Role
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
3. Support pupils in managing their behaviour and emotions
4. Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
5. Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff
6. Promote the social and emotional development of pupils
The Candidate
7. Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs
8. A calm, patient, and resilient approach
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
10. The ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
11. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
12. A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable but not essential
