Position: Planning Manager
Location: Peterborough with hybrid working available
Salary Guide: £80-85k (neg DOE), car/allowance, bonus and excellent benefits
Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, who are delivering a number of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects for Anglian Water through the @one Alliance.
The Role: Our client is looking to strengthen their Planning team with a Planning Manager for the Anglian Water Region. Whilst leading and developing a team towards planning excellence, you'll ensure the project plan and programme are kept on track with any mitigating circumstances successfully overcome. By using your knowledge and expertise in planning, you'll build the trust and confidence of key stakeholder by delivering project updates backed up by value- added data which can contribute to delivery improvements as they progress.
Responsibilities: Develop and maintain robust project plans aligned with @one Alliance and Anglian Water standards.
Provide strategic insights, ensuring resource alignment and risk mitigation.
Communicate key project milestones and progress to stakeholders.
Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Champion health, safety, and wellbeing across all planning activities.
Ability to manage the planning services for a multi-million pound project.
Understanding of the multi-disciplined roles involved within an integrated programme including design, construction, commissioning, interface with 3rd party others and framework partners.
Provide programme management to control the progress of the project by identifying and producing integrated programmes of work, monitoring performance against plans and identifying problem areas and other effects.
Minimise company risk by identifying the critical path within the whole programme of work.
Provide resource planning and levelling by appropriate resource analysis of activity.
Enable control of the progress of procurement by producing schedules for all materials and equipment, updating regularly and analysing the implications of updates.
Update and monitoring of Project Plans for progress reports and to support applications for payment (if appropriate).
Preparation of as-built programmes.
Assist with programmes submissions for requests for extension of time.
Provide programme/progress information in support of Earned Value Analysis as required.
Appreciation of planning input into KPI's and bench marking.
Experience: Proven experience in planning major projects, ideally within the water or civil engineering sector.
Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and collaborative planning processes. Leadership experience in managing and developing planning teams.
Excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making.
Detailed knowledge of the NEC contract and programme requirements.
Good understanding of Construction, Civil Engineering and M&E activity.
Minimum 5 years planning experience.
Possess sound understanding of planning skills and programming.
Excellent written contractual communication.
Excellent verbal communication.
Excellent knowledge of planning systems.
Good coaching and leadership skills.
Strong commercial awareness.
