Lecturer – School of Population Health
Employment Type: Full‑time (35 hours per week)
Duration: 5‑year fixed‑term contract
Location: Hybrid, Kensington, Sydney (Australia)
Remuneration: $127,947 base salary, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
Role Overview
A Lecturer (Level B) will conduct scholarly research and professional activities nationally and internationally, and contribute significantly to teaching and service missions of the School of Public Health and Faculty.
The role focuses on quantitative teaching in predictive modelling and infectious diseases, and on independent and collaborative research in population health modelling, especially infectious diseases and vaccines. The Lecturer reports to the Head of School, Professor James Wood and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and conduct independent and collaborative research in population health modelling.
* Teach postgraduate and life‑long learning courses on predictive modelling and infectious diseases.
* Design, develop and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching.
* Engage with diverse students and staff, building effective relationships.
* Participate in research leadership within the Infectious Diseases Dynamics and Interventions group.
Qualifications and Experience
* PhD (or equivalent experience) in a highly quantitative discipline, demonstrating advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics.
* Proven ability to develop and apply scientific computational modelling studies.
* Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
* Strong research track record with high‑quality, high‑impact outcomes and leadership potential.
* Experience or interest in observational population science and population health.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to network effectively.
* Team‑working and cross‑disciplinary collaboration ability.
