Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a Trust Doctor of FY2 level or above to join our General Internal Medicine Team. The post-holders will join the well-established Department of General Internal Medicine for one year in the first instance with the possibility to extend if mutually agreed. Candidates may also be able to rotate to other specialties as part of a coordinated program being established at the Trust to assist non-training grade doctors to meet the needs of their Personal Development Plans.
We are looking for applicants with experience in acute and/or general internal medicine who also have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional skills to work well in a multi-professional team.
This post would suit doctors who have a keen interest in education and there will be opportunities for simulation training, teaching and quality improvement work.
Main duties of the job The successful appointee will be based at East Surrey Hospital and will work for the 2 Consultants in General Internal Medicine (Short Stay Unit) in a team of 1 specialty doctor, 3 trust doctors equivalents (including new posts), and one FY1.
The Short Stay Unit (Godstone ward) currently has 28, mostly short stay patients. The case mix is wide and varied and a vast amount of clinical experience can be gained, including medical procedures.
There are virtual and follow-up clinics run by consultants. Senior support is available from the Specialty Doctors and the Acute Medical Consultant on-call who is readily available. Trust doctors will take active part in educational activities and audit and research in the department.
