You will provide specialist nutritional care to a varied caseload across surgical inpatient wards and gastroenterology outpatients, contribute to MDT care planning and support our rotational band 5 dietitians, students and support staff. You will be mentored by Highly Specialist Dietitians and supported by the wider service to develop both your clinical and professional knowledge and skills. You will be involved in clinical audit and service improvement projects, and become part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team
This post is advertised at Band 6 but may be offered as a development opportunity under Annex 21 (75%) for the first year, if the successful candidate is working towards the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.
This opportunity is ideal for Dietitians early in their career who have some post-registration experience and are ready to specialise, but require support to step into the additional responsibilities of a Band 6 role. Structured learning and development will be provided to support progression.
This post will afford the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside specialist nurses, surgeons and other therapists. Working in both the inpatient and outpatient ABUHB settings, with the clinical guidance of our lead dietitians, you will provide the dietetic care to patients accessing treatment for a range of clinical conditions within an inpatient surgical and outpatient gastroenterology setting who may require enteral or parenteral nutrition
You will work collaboratively with colleagues based on the wards at the Grange University Hospital, delivering surgical specialist dietetic care. You will also be responsible for delivering a regular gastroenterology dietetic clinic. Some e xisting experi ence in acute dietetics, enteral or parenteral nutrition or gastroenterology would therefore be an advantage.
The post holder should have already attained a sound knowledge and understanding of general dietetics within the NHS.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
