There is significant transition from recent GOV legislation and the confirmed switch from BS to EN (following several years of uncertainty after BREXIT). This does not change the nature of our products but the arising changes embedded, provide necessary challenges to resolve but more over great opportunity for continued growth as we align to this active platform.

Our advanced Office & Production Complex in Durham, is ideally placed to service our markets just 500 metres from the A1M and road network.

This is an opportunity to join a respected and ambitious specialist, with a good team, wide established product ranges, headline capacity, and a firm plan to exploit these market dynamics and challenges through Quality, Transparency and Differentiation

Role Purpose

We will start with the basics - To develop fully detailed CAD models and technical drawings of the company's products and building interfaces. Today we use AutoCAD for client and architect engagement, then we have to produce schedules and BOMs for manufacture and purchasing. We have CNC automation of key production processes, which need to be fed.

Stage 1 - Following significant plant investment, in our modern factory, increasing volumes from sales, dictates the need to advance fully into CAD/CAM, for truly integrated design work. CNC interfaces, component, system, and assembly drawings would align via Solid Works or Autodesk. This role is responsible for ensuring products are accurately detailed for manufacture, installation, and compliance. t will all build into a fully maintained and dynamic technical library and standards. The aim is repeatability and efficiency across the market, shaping the product range in quality, efficiency, and scope, in line with manufacturing processes, quality thresholds and capabilities.

Stage 2 – following the successful delivery of S1, we have an ambitious product dxxx and development program to address, with testing and classification frameworks to satisfy to extend our market offerings.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings and models for bespoke and system-based joinery products in AutoCAD and CAD/CAM.
* Develop full product detailing including, specifications, materials, finishes, fixings, tolerances, and manufacturing instructions.
* Maintain the certification and accreditation base and actively contribute to cross company fertilisation.
* Collaborate with sales team, project teams, and production staff to build a cohesive platform for the company's operations and offerings.
* Develop a brief with a coded framework to satisfy the demands of each department. Maintain and update this central library of standardised product details, components, and templates for reuse and consistency. Interpret architectural and design intent drawings to translate into manufacturable joinery solutions. Apply relevant building regulations and related standards and classifications, joinery standards, and technical specifications, to product detailing.
* Support the preparation of technical documentation for Operation & Maintenance manuals and provide technical input to the company platform.
* Maintain and advance the platform for R&D and continuous improvement efforts on detailing methods, product innovation, and production efficiency, within the team structure.
* Respond to queries from production, site, or commercial teams, related to technical drawings and detailing issues in line with the Customer services team – in line with the Company workflow process.

Key Skills & Experience

* Proven experience in technical detailing for doorsets, architectural joinery, furniture, or bespoke interiors, or other similar related fields, would be beneficial.
* Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks/Autodesk (Solid modelling and 2D detailing preferred at S1).
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in timber and panel-based joinery.
* Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and survey information.
* Familiarity with relevant regulations EN942 ( BS 1186), EN14221, Performance standards for fire safety, sound attenuation, mechanical performance etc), would assist the learning curve.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within defined standards, with high work ethic.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable Qualifications

* Formal qualification in Product Design, Engineering, or Architectural Joinery (e.g., HNC, HND, Degree), or equivalent in related work experience.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a construction or related industry, would be desirable
* Knowledge of Product Line and Product Data Management (PLM/PDM) systems and standardisation techniques desirable.
* Experience using design libraries and templates to drive standardisation.
