Occupational Therapist (Band 5)
Location: Cygnet Hospital Godden Green, Sevenoaks TN15 0JR. Working hours: 37.5 Hours per week. Salary: £32,883 per year, increasing to £35,465 after successful completion of OT Preceptorship.
Your role
You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for patients on your allocated caseload, including delivery of person centred group and individual therapy sessions. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team to support each service user from admission to discharge. You will receive regular clinical supervision and support from the Occupational Therapy team and other therapists.
Summary of the site
Cygnet Hospital Godden Green provides specialist acute and PICU services for women within a calm therapeutic environment. The ward features a gym, ADL kitchen, Recovery College, hair salon, tuckshop and other therapeutic spaces.
Qualifications & experience
* Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC.
* Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, dual diagnosis, sensory processing difficulties or complex trauma.
* Hands‑on approach to OT process/interventions.
* Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
* Experience with severe mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and major depressive disorders.
* Ability to design and deliver individualised, activity‑based interventions to promote patient engagement and recovery.
* Proficiency in sensory‑based interventions to reduce anxiety and create calmer environments.
* Effective teamwork skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
* Passion for student education and ability to manage demanding clinical presentations.
* Interest in the field of mental health.
Preceptorship programme
