Overview
The Freezer Order Selector position includes selecting, stacking, wrapping, and completing tasks related to the shipping of orders in a freezer environment. The Freezer Warehouse handles products with strict temperature requirements. General warehouse duties occur within the assigned area, but the position supports all areas of warehouse operations as needed.
Starting at: $20.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
* Obtains and interprets Vocollect system, pick list, or labels to assemble correct product.
* Stacks products on pallets as picked, according to specifications to maximize cube utilization with minimal damage.
* Secures pallets with plastic wrap for shipment to stores.
* Maintains a target productivity rate (cases per hour).
* Completes necessary paperwork as required.
* Positions pallets properly on trailers.
* Provides efficient and courteous service to store locations in support of the company mission.
* Attends on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to time and attendance policies.
Additional Job Functions
* Sanitation tasks.
* Stock slots.
* Operates forklift, if certified, as needed.
* Ends shift with pallet jack on charger.
* Occasional yard work.
* Follows confidentiality policy regarding company and personnel information.
* Performs other tasks assigned by supervisor or Company Executive Official.
* Utilizes time management and prioritization to accomplish tasks.
* Follows safety and security measures and guidelines.
Equipment
* Electric-powered Pallet Jack
* Forklift, if certified
* Sanitation equipment (sweeper, floor scrubber)
* Fire Extinguisher
Communication
* Ability to use intercom to relay information to Forklift Operators regarding empty slots.
* Ability to receive and complete work assignments via wired or Bluetooth headset communication.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Working Conditions
* Flooring: concrete.
* Warehouse conditions with typical noise, light, dust, and physical demands.
* Refrigerated warehouse with temperatures from -20 to 40 degrees F.
* Very cold and damp; slick floors due to cold temperatures and commodities.
* Normal smoke-free warehouse environment.
* Adequate lighting and ventilation; normal warehouse noise.
Safety
* Overhead stacking may be difficult.
* Observe proper lifting techniques and operate equipment in congested areas.
* Maintain footing on slick floors; understand battery changing procedures.
* Use proper operating procedures, safety gear, and age guidelines where applicable.
* Monitor and maintain proper lifting procedures; keep electrical panels and emergency exits clear.
* Follow ice and snow removal guidelines and wet floor signs during inclement weather.
Work Locations
* Different building segments with varying temperatures (Freezer: -20 degrees F).
* Assigned area of warehouse operations; occasional travel to meeting locations as needed.
Work Schedule
* Rotating second shift (1:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), four ten-hour days.
* Overtime availability as needed.
* Payroll week runs Monday through Sunday; hours set by Warehouse Manager and volume planning.
Physical and Other Requirements
* Repetitive lifting and bending; lift up to 60 lbs from floor to chest height.
* Walk on concrete up to 10 hours per day.
* Work in cold, damp environments up to -20 degrees F.
* Readability requirements for prints, codes, and safety information; view computer screens and labels.
Qualifications
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
* Previous warehouse experience preferred.
* Ability to read, write, and perform basic math; follow instructions.
* Good physical condition and stamina; ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment.
* On-site work during normal business hours with possible extra time as needed.
