Courseware Designer
Thales is looking to recruit a dedicated Courseware Designer to work within a Through-life Support Engineering (TSE) team and undertake Technical Publications / Authoring activities to meet customer requirements with professional independence.

What will you deliver?
 * Make Technical Publications/Authoring decisions within own sphere of responsibility.
 * Fulfill operating, maintenance and support requirements agreed with the customer, presenting information clearly and unambiguously for users and maintainers.
 * Maintain close liaison with engineering through interaction with personnel and interrogation of contributory engineering databases, researching and originating new and amended textual data for a wide range of equipment and maintenance activities.
 * Compile data to meet national, international, civil and military specifications and produce physical/electronic deliverables.
 * Provide help and direction to less experienced team members.
 * Manage own elements of Technical Publications/Authoring work package.
 * Take responsibility for contributing to team planning, risk management, quality and HSE.
 * Set targets for and manage own development with line manager, sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices.
 * Supervise and coach less experienced members of the team including apprentices.
Who are we looking for?
Essential
 * Technical authoring experience.
 * Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and authoring tools.
 * Excellent written and spoken English.
 * Engineering knowledge and experience.
 * Understanding of engineering standards and processes.
 * Ability to translate technical information into easily understood text.
 * Supervisor experience.
 * Experience with engineering product lifecycle.
 * Experience with structured writing (e.g., XML to S1000D, DITA, Common Source Data Base).
Desirable
 * Basic Logistic Support Analysis (LSA).
 * Basic Technical Illustration.
 * Support to Bids.
 * Estimating skills.
 * Risk and opportunity management.
 * Work package management.
