Job Description
The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for attending various sites nationwide to install, commission, and set to work additional nurse call systems within existing healthcare and custodial environments. The role involves reviewing technical documentation, conducting equipment checks and system tests, and producing test reports to ensure compliance with specifications.
System Installation & Commissioning
* Install, test, and commission nurse call and fire alarm systems in acute hospital and custodial settings.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control hardware, wiring, and programming to meet design specifications.
* Lead commissioning activities and supervise subcontractor resources on-site.
* Carry out small works engineering from survey through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
Project & Client Coordination
* Support programme development, scheduling, and milestone planning to ensure timely delivery.
* Participate in technical discussions and site coordination meetings with clients, consultants, designers. Contractors / sub-contractors, and project teams.
* Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality commissioning outcomes.
Process & Documentation
* Develop and implement commissioning procedures, processes, and tools for consistency and improvement.
* Review engineering deliverables to confirm compliance with project specifications and standards.
* Accurately complete all required documentation, including timesheets, work/service reports, expenses, and site records.
Compliance & Conduct
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures, H&S regulations, and client requirements.
* Maintain company equipment in proper working order (tools, PPE, ladders, vehicle).
* Represent the company professionally at all times.
Skills:
* Proven experience with all types of nurse call systems, including conventional, Codem II, and Codemlon, Aspire, Ultima.
* Practical electrical installation skills, including containment, cabling, and bedhead trunking.
* Strong understanding of British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS 7273) and IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition or later).
* Familiarity with fire, alert, detection protection technologies, nurse call systems, and associated system architectures.
* Knowledge of 3rd party system integrations and operations.
* Trained in FIA modules; fully compliant with Health & Safety and Environmental procedures.
