Overview
Due to continued growth and a strong order book, we are looking to recruit for a Mechanical Fitter to join a global manufacturer based in NW Manchester.
The successful candidate will be required to read engineering drawings to assemble and test valves and associated products. Training will be on the job in stages to ensure competency, including works on presses, testing and assembly processes.
Responsibilities
* Carry out assembly of products in line with standard operating procedures and relevant standards.
* Carry out testing of products to specified product methods and in line with standards and procedures and health and safety requirements.
* Liaise with supervisors on quality issues arising from manufacturing.
* Ensure that all tools/machines used are fit for purpose and report any problems to supervision immediately.
* Recommend and carry out improvements in line with the company’s continuous improvement program.
* Work at all times within Health and Safety guidelines, including the correct use of PPE.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date production records.
* Show flexibility and work in other parts of the production areas as required.
Qualifications / Skills
* Time served within a mechanical engineering capacity
* Attention to detail and pride in quality of work
* Demonstrable experience in assembly — Valve / Pump / Gearbox assembly is highly desirable
