We are looking for experienced and compassionate SEN tutors to provide 1:1 tuition to secondary-aged pupils who are currently out of school or receiving alternative provision. The focus will be on bridging gaps in learning and preparing learners for Functional Skills Level 1/2 or GCSEs in Maths, English, and occasionally Science, as per Local Authority requirements.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions in line with each pupil's abilities and goals
* Support young people who may be working below expected levels due to disrupted education
* Build trust and engagement with pupils who may present with a range of SEN and additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Anxiety, Other learning difficulties or complex needs
* Prepare learners for Functional Skills or GCSE exams, depending on pathway
* Provide daily reports and attendance records to support multi-agency reviews and progress tracking
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 2 years' experience teaching or tutoring in the UK (Secondary level)
* Strong knowledge of Maths and English (Science desirable)
* Proven experience working with pupils with SEN, particularly autism, SEMH, and anxiety
* Confident in delivering sessions in various settings: home, online, or school-based
* Up-to-date Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) and Safeguarding Training
Desirable
* Experience working with pupils not currently in formal education
* Knowledge of EHCPs and supporting multi-agency planning
* Experience with trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching approaches

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
