Head of transport strategy

Description This post sits within the Transport Strategy & Coordination Unit of Transport Scotland which brings together a number of cross cutting functions, including delivery of the National Transport Strategy (NTS), strategic coordination, stakeholder engagement, UK and Devolved Administrations relations, and preparing transport for constitutional change. Your overall responsibility will be to lead, develop and monitor work to realise the vision of the National Transport Strategy and work with other parts of Scottish Government to develop and implement relevant workstreams. You will lead TS involvement in policy developments across SG which have a significant impact on transport and where a cross-cutting strategic view is needed. You will also be responsible for Transport Scotland’s integrated performance monitoring and updating the Senior Management Team and Cabinet Secretary regularly. As Head of Transport Strategy, you will manage and develop a team three staff. Responsibilities • Excellent communicator - written, verbal and presentational - with the ability to produce clear, concise, and relevant written material, including ministerial briefings, and present it effectively for diverse purposes and audiences. • Strong interpersonal, skills with experience of building and maintaining trust, establishing and influencing networks, and working effectively with internal and external stakeholders. • Ability to gather, analyse, assess and interpret information from a range of sources to evaluate actions, provide recommendations or inform decision making. • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including managing competing priorities and tasks, and identifying and responding to changing circumstances, priorities and expectations.
