Overview

By joining us you will work daily with technical experts within our established Environmental Impact (EIA) team which comprises over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland. We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, and everything we do aligns with our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy. We are a national team with flexible office locations and a hybrid working model, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington.

At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. This position offers an opportunity to manage environmental inputs to large-scale development projects that are transforming our infrastructure.


Responsibilities

* Provide Expertise: As a Principal Environmental Consultant, manage environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements (and in the future Environmental Outcomes Reports) and supporting documents, including the technical review of specialist chapters. Involve across project life cycles from strategy development to site identification, feasibility, option selection, outline design, to detailed design, discharge of conditions, construction, and operation/maintenance. Work across a portfolio of development projects with multiple consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.).
* Ensure Quality: Ensure deliverables meet high quality standards and comply with quality management procedures.
* Project Management: Manage resources and budgets effectively with support as applicable.
* Collaborate: Work within integrated design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints, mitigation solutions, and opportunities for benefits.
* Client Contact: Manage client relationships and internal supply teams.
* Growth: Promote AECOM’s environmental services to internal and external audiences and lead business development opportunities and related fee and technical proposals.


Qualifications

What we’re looking for

* Experience providing consultancy services
* Excellent understanding of EIA processes, environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation
* Detailed understanding of relevant consenting and licensing regimes
* Confidence engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team
* Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing
* Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management and budget management
* Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters) and an appropriate professional membership
* Willingness to travel

Bonus

* Chartered Environmentalist status
* Interest in line management and mentoring
* Experience of the DCO and/or TWAO consenting regimes
