Job Introduction

Here at Linford Aircrete we have a great opportunity for a Yard Leading Hand Operative

Working as part of the site production team you will be focusing on delivering and leading exceptional, SHE standards and meeting financial and operational targets, the Lead Operative is responsible for the safe operation of the plant ensuring daily tasks are completed including general site housekeeping and basic maintenance and the safe and efficient operation of mobile and fixed plant. The Leading hand acts as a leader within the shift, coordinating required labour, training and development of the shift team. You will need to show a high degree of flexibility within your work as well as building good working relationships with your team.

Responsibilities

1. Labour utilisation within budgeted controls.
2. Training and development of team.
3. Supervise team and manage contractors and haulier engagement
4. Ensure safe load optimisation.
5. Prioritising planned works.
6. Ensuring that Health & Safety rules are adhered to and deliver safety/operational performance targets, supporting a culture of health and safety best practice by setting a personal example.
7. Comply with all Tarmac/CRH Policies & Procedures.
8. Supporting continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental performance standards.
9. Supporting continuous improvement of process, plant and production.
10. Effective completion of operator preventative maintenance tasks
11. Balancing the time covering operation and house keeping
12. Ensuring mobile plant cleanliness standards.
13. Ensuring daily compliance checks and standards.
14. Building working relationships with other production and maintenance personnel.
15. Ensure products of high quality are efficiently produced.
16. Ensure that Site Inspections are completed and recorded.
17. Ensure you read, understand and sign method statements and risk assessments for all activities.
18. Attend and actively participate in Daily Briefings and Weekly Safety Briefings.
19. Actively look to identify SHE improvement opportunities
20. Comply with planning and other operating restrictions i.e. site boundaries, noise, dust, hours etc
21. Ensure Daily KPIs are recorded accurately and work with the team to meet agreed KPI’s
22. Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement In addition to reviewing implementing any appropriate Best Practice
23. Effectively control daily operations of the plant in line with the operating SOP’s
24. Work closely with maintenance team/contractors to co-ordinate maintenance activities during a normal day and during shutdowns
25. Liaise with supervisor regarding delivery and quality issues to help them manage complaints system.
26. Ensure the quality of the products manufactured & delivered to site.
27. Ensure full communication to all parties in relation to plant breakdown
28. Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis when required in respect of Quality, Safety and Mechanical issues.
29. Ensure timely recording daily input of stock handling in support of all month end data
30. Complete Daily/Weekly reports/inspections Environmental log etc
31. Daily Maintenance of Production Sheets
32. Administration of machine logs, servicing etc
33. Should have (or have a willingness to develop
34. Manufacturing process experience
35. Heavy plant and equipment experience
36. PC literate including Microsoft excel, word and power point.
37. Familiar with ISO, ,, standards.

Skills:

38. Good oral and written English
39. Basic mathematical skills.
40. B1 / B2 FLT licence required
