Job Description:
This Health & Safety Lead position plays a key role in promoting a positive, proactive safety culture across the business. Reporting to the Head of EHS, the Health & Safety Lead will maintain a visible presence across the site, guiding and mentoring employees at all levels to ensure that legislative, procedural, and operational safety standards are consistently met.
Working closely with internal teams and specialist consultants, the Health & Safety Lead will contribute to safe plant design, robust operational controls, and continuous improvement initiatives that uphold the company’s licence to operate.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting behavioural safety programmes, conducting benchmarking and GAP analysis, contributing to ISO45001 compliance, participating in audits, and driving engagement around safety performance.
* The Health & Safety Lead will also support emergency response planning, health surveillance programmes, incident investigations, and the creation of safety reports for site leadership.
* Ensuring documentation is accurate, aligned to legislation, and optimised for effective implementation is central to this role.
Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years’ experience in Health, Safety & Environmental roles
* Background in high-volume manufacturing or COMAH environments
* Strong working knowledge of ISO45001 & ISO14001
* Experience in emergency response planning and behavioural safety
* Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong cross-functional relationships
* Competent IT skills for documentation and systems
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
* Lead Auditor for ISO14001 / ISO45001
* Train-the-Trainer qualification desirable
