As part of itsmitment to strengthening its presence on estates and improving tenant engagement, the council is recruiting an Assistant Housing Officer to join the team based in Northfield (B31).
Your new role
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a 35-hour working week. The position offers a hybrid working model,bining office-based duties, home working, and on-site visits. You’ll be supporting Housing Officers by carrying out initial checks on cases such as succession, unlawful occupiers, abandonments, and mutual exchanges. You’ll also be responsible for handling low-level anti-social behaviour cases and conducting proactive visits to tenants.These visits are a core part of the role and involve checking properties, ensuring tenant wellbeing, making referrals where needed, and responding to tenancy-related queries. You’ll be expected to manage a variety of cases and contribute to the council’s goal of increasing visibility and support across its estates. The role is offered on a six-month contract, with a possibility of extensions, and requires an

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be organised, proactive, and confident in dealing with tenants and tenancy-related matters. While driving is preferred, it is not essential, and public transport costs will be reimbursed for visits. You should befortable working in a fast-paced, KPI-driven environment and have a strong sense of responsibility and time management. A positive attitude and willingness to support both tenants and colleagues are key. Prior social housing experience is desired.
What you'll get in return
You’ll receive apetitive pay rate of £ per hour plus holiday allowance, totalling £ per hour for the first 13 weeks. After this period, the rate increases to £ per hour plus holiday allowance, totalling £ per hour.
