Start Date: After February Half Term

Contract: Long-term / Permanent

Hours: Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, skilled and compassionate SEN Primary Teacher to lead a small specialist base class. The successful teacher will deliver a highly personalised curriculum—drawing on both KS1/KS2 objectives and EYFS developmental stages—to meet the unique needs of each learner.

You will be supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants, working together to create a nurturing, structured and engaging learning environment tailored to pupils with communication, sensory and developmental needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher with experience in SEN, base-class or alternative curriculum settings who is looking for a long-term or permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead teaching and learning within a specialist Year 1 base class of 10 pupils with ASD.
* Plan and deliver personalised, engaging and accessible lessons informed by individual EHCP outcomes.
* Integrate elements of EYFS provision for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations.
* Work collaboratively with two Teaching Assistants to ensure consistent, effective support across the class.
* Utilise SEN-specific approaches, including communication systems, sensory strategies, visual timetables and structured routines.
* Support non-verbal pupils through appropriate communication tools (e.g., PECs, gestures, AAC where applicable).
* Foster positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
* Contribute to a supportive, inclusive and child-centred school culture.
* Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and interventions.

Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
* Strong experience working within SEN, particularly with pupils with ASD and complex needs.
* Confidence in delivering a blended curriculum
* Effective behaviour-management skills within a structured, low-arousal environment.
* A patient, nurturing and resilient approach to teaching and learning.
* Commitment to inclusive practice and personalised support.
