Nuclear Medicine Physicist

We are seeking an enthusiastic clinical scientist to work within the Nuclear Medicine Physics section, including acting as a Medical Physics Expert and Radioactive Waste Adviser, undertaking equipment quality assurance, administration of radiopharmaceuticals for thyrotoxicosis, optimisation of image quality, teaching and training. The post-holder will also work with technologists and clinicians to support service developments.

The Nuclear Medicine imaging service for UHNM has three gamma cameras (2 with SPECT-CT) alongside radiopharmacy in a modern PFI hospital build; and a PET CT scanner purchased in collaboration with Keele University. Nuclear Medicine Physics is part of the Radiology Physics section of Medical Physics which provides wide-ranging scientific and technical support at this Trust and at neighbouring hospitals.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the physics team providing specialised clinical scientific services to diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospitals of North Midlands.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* UK State Registered Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with Nuclear Medicine Physics as the area of speciality
* Honours degree (1st or upper 2nd class) in Physics or closely related Physical Science.
* Postgraduate MSc degree in medical physics
* Completion of a certificated national healthcare scientist training programme (National School of Heathcare Science STP training or equivalent qualification), in Nuclear Medicine Physics
* UK certificated Medical Physics Expert in Nuclear Medicine Physics


Experience

* Minimum of 5 years experience in hospital Medical Physics within the Nuclear Medicine Physics speciality
