Are you interested in mental health, early intervention, and working with children and young people? Here is a great opportunity to complete a 1-year undergraduate or postgraduate CBT approach evidence-based intervention course. You will be employed by NHFT and complete the course with Northampton University.
As a Trainee, you will work under supervision as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working, and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged. This approach requires flexibility and working in educational settings. There will be an expectation and opportunities to work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to support co-production and the development of the service, creating meaningful participation work.
Please note: The EMHP posts are training positions subject to a 1-year fixed-term contract. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to Northampton University to complete their training. Upon successful completion of the EMHP course, Trainee EMHPs will be promoted to Band 5 on the Agenda for Change Pay scale. Working hours are Monday-Friday, 9-5, with some early starts and late finishes. You will need a valid UK driving license and a car for work.
The Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner role will:
1. Work closely with a team of mental health professionals delivering a wide range of evidence-informed interventions under supervision.
2. Develop and practice evidence-based skills to work directly with children, young people, and families.
3. Carry out holistic and child-centred mental health assessments, including risk assessments.
4. Manage a caseload.
5. Conduct audits and offer workshops and training as part of a Whole School Approach.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Demonstrate the ability to work at degree level or have equivalent relevant experience, or be able to study at Level 6, with a proven record of learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing, or mental health (completed courses at Level 3, equivalent to A-levels).
* Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and other agencies.
* Experience working with children and young people with social, emotional, and/or mental health difficulties.
