About the role

We have a permanent, full time vacancy for a Practice Development Occupational Therapist within our Practice Development Team, based in the heart of the city of Gloucester, with great access routes to the M5.

As our Practice Development Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with the Principal Occupational Therapist and the Practice Development Team Manager to lead the development of excellent occupational therapists, social workers, social care and occupational health practitioners. You will also take a lead role in development programmes for students, apprenticeships, newly qualified social workers, and existing staff and managers.

This will include taking responsibility for:

9. The development, coordination and delivery of high quality, accessible learning opportunities and experiences.

10. Supporting and delivering the ASYE programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers.

11. Supporting and delivering the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship programme.

12. Supporting our Locality Teams when hosting Occupational Therapy student placements, including student inductions, facilitating group learning and supervision activities and providing mentoring, coaching and high levels of support and challenge.

13. Representing Adult Social Care at local, regional and national events to improve practice and keep up to date with national drivers and developments in practice.

About you

You will be skilled and experienced in a relevant field of Occupational Therapy and be passionate about supporting the learning and development of others. You will already have substantial experience supporting students and Newly Qualified Workers in line with the Professional Capability Framework and Knowledge and Skills statement.

In addition, we are seeking a candidate with the following skill sets and experience:

14. Sound knowledge of current legislative frameworks such as the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Equalities Act.

15. Good knowledge of theories, conceptual frameworks, practice models and research findings that underpin effective occupational therapy and social work practice and applies these models in practice.

16. Knowledge of quality assurance and using a range of techniques to engage and inspire others in a learning environment.

17. Experience of designing, developing and evaluating training and induction programmes.

18. Experience of supporting change management.

Qualifications required for this role

19. Occupational Therapy qualification.

20. Current registration with HCPC.

21. Post Qualifying Award in Occupational Therapy or willingness to undertake a relevant course.

22. PEPS Level 2 qualification or willingness to work towards PEPS Level 2.
