The Role
Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for packaging innovation and technical problem-solving? We’re looking for a Technical Engineer (Process and Packaging) to join our team and lead the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of packaging materials and processes. You’ll manage all on-site packaging materials—from base films and lidding foils to shippers and tooling. You’ll be the technical lead for packaging trials, material onboarding, and process investigations, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and compliance. You’ll collaborate closely with Operational Engineering, Quality, and external stakeholders to resolve breakdowns, support customer complaints, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, efficiency, and cost.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and resolve process issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
* Collaborate with Operational Engineering to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
* Lead packaging design and material changes from concept to qualification.
* Support tooling changes, qualifications, and documentation through Change Control.
* Act as technical lead for customer complaints and deviations, generating reports and driving corrective actions.
* Champion Continuous Improvement (CI), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and preventative maintenance strategies.
Candidate Profile
* Full-time served engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent qualifications - Required
* Electrical / Mechanical engineer with extensive post-apprenticeship experience in an Engineering role
* Strong knowledge of packaging tooling and machining techniques
* Technical troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical, controls)
* Experience with root cause analysis and technical report writing
* Familiarity with cGMP and quality systems
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
* Proactive, adaptable, and customer-focused mindset
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results
* Positive attitude and openness to change
