Consultant in Radiology - Cardiothoracic Radiology
Job Overview
Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly, forward-thinking team of 30 consultant radiologists at the Royal United Hospital Bath.
This is a full‑time position but part‑time applications are also encouraged. The role includes evening and weekend duties and on‑call rota participation.
Bath is a beautiful Georgian city in the South West of England, the only English city with UNESCO World Heritage status. It offers rich cultural and leisure opportunities, excellent schools, and is only 90 minutes from London.
Main duties of the job
This new post has been created due to the expansion of the radiology department, specifically cardiothoracic imaging services and research. In addition to a specialist interest in cardiothoracic radiology, the candidate must possess cross‑sectional imaging skills applicable to a general department. The post will support the established cardiac CT and expanding MRI services, aid development of the RUH cardiothoracic radiology service, and contribute to lung cancer and interstitial lung disease care.

Qualifications
* GMC recognised general medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* FRCR.
* Be on the Specialist Register, or ideally within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
Desirable qualifications
* Level 2 or 3 Cardiac CT certification (BSCI, SCCT or equivalent).
* Level 2 or 3 Cardiac MRI certification (SCMR, EACVI or equivalent).
Skills
* Fully accredited clinical radiologist on GMC specialist register.
* Thoracic imaging experience, particularly lung cancer & intervention and ILD.
* Extensive current general radiological practice appropriate to a district general hospital, including general on‑call skills.
* Motivated to contribute to general and specialised work, maintaining a high standard of personal development.
Desirable skills
* Cardiac CT imaging experience.
* Cardiothoracic imaging fellowship.
* Experience in pulmonary hypertension imaging.

Teaching Experience
* Ability to support multidisciplinary teaching and subspecialty training.

* Evidence of delivery of research publications and audit.

* Interest in developing clinical research and departmental audit and ability to organise postgraduate research.
Management and Administration
* Awareness of audit process, appraisal, principles of Clinical Governance, confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable management and administration experience
* Proven track record of audit.

Applicants must have appropriate UK professional registration and be eligible under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
