Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join the team as a District Nurse Specialist Practitioner within our Community Nursing department based across East Ayrshire.

What you will do:

The District Nurse Specialist Practitioner is an experienced and highly educated registered nurse who manages the complete clinical care for their patient. This level of practice is characterised by high level autonomous decision making, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment including prescribing, of patients with complex multi-dimensional problems. Decisions are made using high level expert knowledge and skills.

As a Specialist Practitioner District Nurse you will be responsible for planning, providing, managing, monitoring and reviewing nursing care for a defined caseload. You will utilise best practice to meet the requirements of people with more complex health and care needs in an Official range of community settings. You will contribute to health improvement initiatives to individuals, families and the wider community.

You will have excellent communication skills and work well within a team as well as on your own. You will also demonstrate experience of developing and delivering innovative and creative solutions to underpin service delivery.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

* Community Nursing experience with a Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) (District Nurse) or equivalent District Nurse post graduate qualification and experience at Masters level is an essential criteria for this post.
* Applicants who partially meet the essential criteria will be considered for a trainee (Afc Annex 21 applies) and where required, you will be provided with a programme of training during your initial period of employment.
* Specifically, this will include managing patients using high level autonomous decision making, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment including prescribing, of patients with complex multi-dimensional problems.
* It will also include completion of Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) District Nurse at Masters Level.

Hours:

* Full time and part-time opportunities available.
* The post holder will cover 5 days over 7.
* This post is offered on a permanent basis.
