We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account based in the North West of England. The role involves travel across the region visiting sites from HMPYOI Styal in Wilmslow to HMP Haverigg in Cumbria.
The salary is competitive, with a company van included. We support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons, helping keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales operational.
As a Mobile Electrician, you will be part of a support team supporting prisons across the region, fulfilling roles of AP/RPs as needed. The standard hours are 39 per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible and hybrid work options to promote work-life balance.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
2. Diagnosing and replacing failed electrical components.
3. Carrying out electrical inspections, tests, and installations.
4. Ensuring the security of tools, materials, and vehicles.
5. Adhering to PPE and safety standards.
6. Achieving performance targets.
7. Managing high/low-risk maintenance activities as AP/RP, with training provided.
8. Supporting zero carbon initiatives and ensuring H&S standards across the contract.
Unique aspects of this role: You will work across the region, acting as AP/RP, implementing and managing work in accordance with safety and legislative standards. Prison Security Clearance is required (Amey will assist with this).
Candidate requirements:
* Appropriate technical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2365, BTEC, NVQ Level 3).
* BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (training available if only 17th Edition).
* Experience in electrical maintenance, distribution, installation, and testing.
* Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Ability to work at heights and independently.
* Good project management skills and stakeholder communication.
