This is a challenging role in which the post holder will be the managerial focal point for all the services within the scope of responsibility.
The main duties are to:
Provide senior managerial leadership for operational performance of the Medical Directorates, delivering a range of outcomes, to ensure that care is delivered in a safe and effective way and that all performance targets are met within specified resources.
Provide leadership to the Divisional transformation programme, streamlining patient pathways and increasing productivity and efficiency whilst ensuring care is patient centered and offers excellent patient experience.
Deputise for the Divisional Director of Operations as required.

Main duties of the job
1. Engage clinical and non-clinical staff in the business of the Directorates, building processes and systems around patient needs, ensuring delivery of excellent healthcare.
2. Maintain Directorate focus on and commitment to all performance, patient safety and quality targets at all times.
3. Embed a service improvement philosophy into everyday practice.
4. Promote and maintain a culture of financial control and recurrent financial awareness amongst both clinical and non-clinical staff.
5. Hold staff within the Directorates to account for their actions through a performance management approach based on effective appraisal.
6. Ensuring that cross-Directorate working is managed as proactively as intra-Directorate working, including management of care pathways, and that the Directorate is fully involved and engaged in a Trust wide system of working, policy and practice.
7. Work closely with clinicians in order to achieve optimal decisions for overall patient care.
8. Build processes around patients and work with patients as partners in the delivery of excellent healthcare.
9. In the interests of patient care, support the principle of treatment as close to the patient’s home as possible.
10. Compare with high performing organisations to ensure continuous learning from others.

MAIN DUTIES

12. Line management of the MEC Performance Manager ensuring their focus is on the Division and Trust priorities.
13. Deputise for the DDOP as required.
14. Support the Divisional Senior Management Team in the development of strategy and service development within their service area.
15. Facilitate regular communications with all members of the team to ensure all staff are aware of service issues and priorities so that they have the opportunity to input ideas and suggestions.
16. Lead on the divisions performance targets e.g 18 weeks RTT, cancer targets.
17. Responsible for the operational systems and processes for the Directorates, monitoring and reporting RTT.
18. Working with information, adapts and improves information systems to ensure the performance data is accurately captured and reported both to senior managers and external bodies.
19. Ensures audits are designed and implemented to monitor service delivery and improvements.
20. Develops implements, modifies and evaluates data collection systems for the capture of data ensuring that the data is collected consistently and accurately across the Directorates
21. Represent the Trust in external forums as appropriate to the role.
