GSL Education are working in partnership with a dynamic school to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) in Eastbourne to support the Head of the Deaf Support Facility. Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA): Provide tailored support to students with sensory impairments, particularly those with hearing difficulties. Assist the Head of the Deaf Support Facility in managing day-to-day interventions and support plans. Foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Support communication strategies including BSL (if applicable), lip reading, or use of assistive technologies. Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to the SENCO and other staff as required. Promote independence and confidence in learners with sensory needs. Requirements: Previous experience working with children with sensory needs, particularly hearing impairments. Understanding of inclusive education and SEND practices. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3) is beneficial. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach. Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
