Job Advert The role is based in the PayPoint head office in Welwyn Garden City and reports into the Head of Legal- Card Services. This role involves a wide range of experience and activities and will form part of the wider PayPoint Group Legal Team of 10 lawyers. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Working on legal and regulatory matters relating to PayPoint Group’s cards and payments business activities including structuring of regulated and unregulated business activity under the Consumer Credit Act and Payment Services Regulations as appropriate. Working with other members of the legal team to provide support as needed for PayPoint’s other business areas that work alongside the card and payments business. Drafting and negotiating different types of commercial contracts to support these business areas, including supplier, marketing and client/customer contracts. Supporting the DPO and data protection specialists on data protection matters across various entities in the group. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES See main purpose of role above. Negotiating and drafting a range of commercial agreements within the regulated and unregulated space. Advising on regulatory developments and briefing business stakeholders. Researching and analysing documents, legislation, case law and regulatory requirements to ensure the accuracy of advice and procedures. Horizon scanning and reviewing changes and developments in the law and relevant regulations and assessing their impact on the business. Day to day support on data protection matters under the review and management of the DPO. Support to the wider business including review of both regulated and unregulated marketing activity and sales and operational processes. Collaboration with other members of Legal and Compliance Teams to support One Team approach. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Essential Solicitor qualified in England and Wales. The role would suit a lawyer of at least 2 years post qualification, although other applicants will also be considered. Experience of drafting contracts and providing written and verbal legal advice on commercial and regulatory legal matters. Experience of working in a FCA regulated business with strong understanding of regulatory principles and themes. Experience of GDPR, data protection and data security issues. Effective negotiating skills and an attention to detail. Highly desirable Experience of advising on FCA regulatory matters. Experience of advising on consumer credit and payment services would be preferable but is not essential. Prior inhouse experience.
