Production Operative | Preston, PR2 9ZD | Full Time | £15.22 - £17.25 per hour Our client is a leading manufacturer of moulded plastic products, operating in vehicle, fire, and environmental safety markets. They are a market leader in several European countries and ship to over 60 countries worldwide. Operating from a 4-acre manufacturing site in Preston, Lancashire, and a 3.7-acre distribution site nearby, the group employs around 155 people. They also have a subsidiary in Seclin, France, employing 17 staff. Group turnover is approximately £22m. The Role We are currently recruiting Production Operatives to join their manufacturing team in Preston. Opportunities are available across rotating and permanent night shifts. You will be responsible for producing high-quality moulded plastic products while maintaining strong standards of quality, productivity, and safety. Available Shifts XTB Night Shift £17.25 per hour 40 hours per week Sunday to Thursday 21:45 – 06:15 Every Friday and Saturday night off XTB Rotating Shift £15.84 per hour 39.5 hours per week Week 1: Monday to Friday, 05:45 – 14:15 Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 13:45 – 22:15, Friday finish at 21:15 TBM Rotating Shift £15.22 per hour Same rotating shift pattern as above Following the successful completion of a 12-week training period, employees will receive an additional merit allowance. Flexibility is required to support business needs. Key Responsibilities Decanting the raw materials into the moulding tool as per instructions Producing a range of plastic products using a variety of machines in which to mould them Following a strict process after the product is cooked. i.e., the use of formers, trimming Housekeeping regularly, ensuring the workplace is free from any potential safety risks Ensure products meet the company’s quality standards Use of power tools such as drills to assemble and create the products Producing various kits to accompany products Requirements Essential Manual handling Ability to handle physical work Ability to do basic maths for Stock counting purposes Awareness and application of health and safety working regulations Ability to work in an environment where temperature can exceed the average Minimum of 2 GCSE or equivalent C and above including Maths and English Ability to use hand tools Experience working in a manual role Desirable Experience of working in a manufacturing environment or similar Experience working on own and in a team environment Other Requirements Excellent timekeeping and attendance are expected Always ensure the wearing of the correct uniform and PPE Achieve Production targets and other KPIs Always work safely, compliant with health and safety legislation Recording of completed moulds using the standard paperwork What’s In It For You 33 days annual leave (including 8 bank holidays).
