Primary Objective
As an Electrical Commissioning Manager, you will lead and oversee the commissioning of electrical and life safety systems across complex engineering projects. This role ensures that all commissioning activities are thoroughly planned, executed, validated, and documented to meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations. You will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, and fully operational systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all commissioning deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
2. Develop and implement commissioning strategies, plans, and procedures aligned with project objectives
3. Review electrical designs, specifications, and drawings for commissionability, safety, and compliance.
4. Prepare or review commissioning programmes, integrated with the master construction programme
5. Provide technical guidance on commissioning requirements, performance criteria, and project scopes
6. Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and Ensure BS 7671 inspection & testing is correctly executed and recorded
7. Manage and validate Cause & Effect (C&E) and Integrated Systems Test (IST) to confirm proper interaction of life safety systems
8. Review and provide technical input on drawings, specifications, manuals, and submittals
9. Prepare detailed reports outlining progress, technical findings, and key project issues
10. Monitor project scope changes and communicate impacts internally
11. Strong project management and organizational skills
12. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly
13. Ability to anticipate issues, plan proactively, and meet deadlines
14. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
15. Support management of commissioning budgets and resources.
16. Contribute to delay analysis and recovery planning related to commissioning.
17. Assist with variation assessments linked to commissioning scope changes
Skills:
18. Minimum 5 years’ experience in commissioning or project management within building services or engineering environments
19. Demonstrated expertise in commissioning electrical and life safety systems
20. Strong knowledge of Electrical, fire detection, emergency lighting, and alarm systems
21. Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
22. Experience working within quality and environmental management systems
23. Professional membership (, CSA, CIBSE, IET or equivalent) is advantageous
24. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT tools

Required Qualifications
25. A minimum of 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines
26. Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion
27. Should have a passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process and experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls)
28. Must be willing to travel to site-based locations as reasonably based on HDR needs
29. Must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and have excellent report writing skills
30. Must have a solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections and maintenance considerations
31. Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
32. Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise
33. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
34. Multitasking ability
35. Valid driver's license
