THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST EMPLOYEES

To work within the nurses’ station, within the clinical area alongside all clinical staff and patients. To provide a comprehensive and efficient operational and clerical service to the A&E co-ordinator and emergency care team, ensuring all work is prioritised according to the demands of the department. This will include aiding inclusive of communication, target and performance adherence, quality data capture and assisting in positive flow-through. The Flow Coordinator will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the department. The post holder will work under the supervision of the A&E co-ordinator/Shift Leader and management from the Administration Manager for the Acute Floor. The Flow Coordinator will be responsible for managing their own workload in conjunction with demands from varying members of the Emergency Care MDT. The Flow Coordinator will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the Department. Acute floor knowledge is essential to this role.

* Often attend to the bereaved or distressed. This may include but is not exhaustive to comforting both relatives and patients following traumas or medical emergencies, caring for individuals who have been immediately affected by death of a loved one, communicating with and tending to individuals who are confused, intoxicated or abusive.
* Required to work flexible shifts, weekends, and unsociable hours, at times asked to stay on past shift if department is under pressure.
* Communicate and work within a stressful, time-conscious environment with high potential for abuse or being witness to harrowing and distressing sights.
* Will be expected to work at speed with a high level of accuracy. This includes patient contact, manual handling, manipulating heavy equipment and transferring patients and equipment.
* Must be prepared to work effectively whilst being exposed to frequent highly distressing or highly emotional circumstances. Daily exposed to highly distressing and emotional circumstances such as dealing with relatives of deceased patients, paediatric death and trauma.
