At Cormica, we will give you exposure to the varied analytical skills and essential laboratory tasks behind drug design, development, safe release and manufacturing trouble shooting. The Laboratory Assistant role within Cormica Bradford is varied and involves supporting the Facilities and Operations teams with supporting the day-to-day running of the laboratories. There's never a dull day in the lab, you’ll be supporting us with sample management, chemical control, laboratory administration and will be introduced to the varied analytical tasks we perform to ensure patients receive safe and effective medicines. You'll be given full technical training by our experienced, talented team as well as support to develop your health and safety and regulatory awareness. Your line manager will help you to design and track your training and development plan and anything required for your course. RESPONSIBILITIES: Sample Store : Carrying out essential tasks, including logging samples onto databases, updating clients on receipt of samples, and following up on missing paperwork. Undertake regular sample disposals. Work closely with / act as cover for Sample Controller. Calibrations : Performing scheduled weekly and monthly calibrations, plus performance verifications. Work closely with equipment supervisors. Chemical Shop : Organisation and administration of the chemical stores. Booking in and logging of reagents onto databases, stock control, ordering, dealing with deliveries. Participating in essential facilities site tasks such as safety checks, lab housekeeping, dealing with deliveries, processing waste collections, monitoring of the temperature control system etc. Liaising with vendors / contractors to organise service, maintenance, repair of facilities and equipment. Recording, filing and archiving information in accordance with procedures. Follow and abide by all H&S regulations and report any deviations or improvements to the H&S Officer. Have a responsibility for preparing task risk assessments and COSHH assessments as appropriate. Carry out work to all health and safety standards and record keeping requirements. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Quality. Will follow and abide by all relevant GXP and ISO9001 regulations and report any deviations or improvements to the QA Manager. Pro-active management of assigned quality actions. You will be provided with technical training on a range of techniques to support our projects for example; XRD, laser diffraction, automated image analysis, HPLC and a wide range of other techniques.
