Welcome to Salem

At Salem, we provide high quality activity breaks and therapeutic support placements for vulnerable young people/children. We create caring and engaging programmes, tailored to each young person receiving our services.

We are an ever growing company with a wealth of experience in looking after young people from all over the country. We aim to change the way young people are supported to access alternative education and create a transition into the workplace for care leavers.

We require high-quality care and support staff to join the team and support our growth aspirations.

Key Requirements:

* Enhanced DBS (update service or willingness to attain one)
* First Aid Certificate (8 hour minimum)
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Business Vehicle Insurance (or willingness to get)

Responsibilities include:

* Providing care and assistance to young people/children in their daily routines.
* Contributing to the provision of a planned and stimulating environment.
* Care and control and for the physical and emotional well-being of children and young people who receive our services.
* Contributing towards the maintenance of sites and equipment and ensuring that they are in a safe and satisfactory condition.
* Assist with meal preparation.
* Supporting young people in learning to become more independent.
* Engage in meaningful conversations and activities with young people/children to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
* Monitor and report any changes in the young peoples physical or mental health.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the overall well-being of young people/children.

We will provide training and support throughout to enable you to work to the best of your ability to achieve this.

Experience:

It would be great if you came to us with the following foundational skill sets, in which we can help you develop:

* A working knowledge of computer based programmes such as Gmail, google docs, google sheets.
* Experience within the sectors of education, outdoor activity, therapy or social care
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to provide compassionate care with empathy and respect
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Qualifications or active interest in outdoor/physical activities

Job Summary:

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated support workers to join our team. At Salem we value teamwork, positivity and professionalism and in return we offer a fantastic work life balance with flexible working hours, which may amount to over 2 weeks off every month.

Additional Information:

Part-time hours: 93.5 Hours per Month (Base over 6 shifts and incl. overnight payments)

Full time hours: 168 Hours per Month (Based over 11 shifts and incl. overnight payments)

Freelance/Self-Employed: Flexible availability, with a minimum requirement on 2 days availability per month

Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions are not available.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.50-£16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
