Role Overview
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will carry out care duties for patients in support of a registered nurse/Operating Department practitioner (ODP). The role requires working unsupervised with the wider theatre team available for reference at all times. The post holder will perform physical, technical and emotional aspects of patient care efficiently, effectively and responsibly with accuracy in a busy environment.
Qualifications & Experience
* SVQ III in peri‑operative care or working towards a peri‑operative equivalent
* SVQ III in healthcare or working towards an equivalent experience within a caring environment
* No previous clinical healthcare experience will be treated in accordance with Annex U Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees
* Initial induction period of up to 3 months followed by training and consolidation to achieve full competency across a range of specialties within 12 months following induction
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Active participation in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
Contract & Working Pattern
Permanent part‑time post – 18.5 hours per week. Salary pro‑rata. The role will be based in Day Surgery at University Hospital Wishaw with working pattern including Day and Back shift.
