Job Title: Production Technical Inspector
The Production Technical Inspector within GMA is responsible for daily production inspection to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality vehicles across all models undertaken by Gordon Murray Automotive.
This role involves being part of the team to ramp-up production at a low-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation. Responsibilities include inspecting the iStream Primary structure, superlight frame structures, sub-assemblies, and parts. The inspector will work with the Manufacturing Engineering and production teams to meet process targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish strong team relationships at all levels, focusing on teamwork and inclusion.
* Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering team members.
* Operate inspection machinery and tools on a low-volume production process.
* Perform quality checks for defects and label finished products.
* Work towards production targets.
* Support production, trials, and training activities.
* Assist in problem-solving activities within the team.
* Be available for overtime, shutdowns, and travel as needed.
* Work with GMA/GMAE Engineering to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
* Maintain computer literacy in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Communicate effectively to liaise and convey points clearly.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Experience with metrology, inspection methods, and equipment, including measurement arms/scanning.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
* Experience in macro checks of arc welding.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably in low-volume automotive manufacturing.
* Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.
* Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
* Knowledge of welded aluminium structures, composites, bonding, plastic mouldings, and assembly processes is advantageous.
* Strong planning and prioritization skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to present data effectively.
* Understanding of health and safety practices.
* Experience with CAD systems like Catia V5 and dimensional verification.
* Ideally, 5 years of relevant experience at an OEM or similar company.
* Experience across the full product lifecycle, achieving quality, cost, and delivery targets.
* Proficiency in cross-functional processes.
* Team player capable of working closely with other teams.
