Role Summary
We are recruiting a fixed‑term Energy Advisor (up to 2 years) with experience in regulating or working within the energy sector, including combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
 * Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
 * Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
 * Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
 * Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident.
Team and Department
 * Energy & COMAH team, part of the Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation of Environment & Business Directorate.
 * Technical experts lead on defining standards for the energy sectors, providing strategic direction, guidance, training and environmental best practice.
Required Experience & Skills
 * Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues.
 * Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, with experience regulating emissions to air for combustion processes.
 * Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
 * Cooperative team working to achieve common goals.
