Job overview

We would like to present an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist to join our established community children's therapy service. This part-time vacancy has arisen within our band 6 community paediatric rotations working with children with a range of physical, genetic, neurological and developmental conditions. The rotations include special schools, musculoskeletal physio and our core community team.

We are a Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team that works Monday to Friday based within the city of Salford, working in Community Clinics, Schools, Nurseries and patient's homes and are based centrally with our Children's Health Service colleagues. We provide excellent in-service training opportunities which will promote and develop your clinical skills in all service areas.

This post will allow you to develop a wide range of clinical, organisational and supervision skills. You will play an active role in service development and in-service training both with support of and while supporting other members of the team. We are innovative, forward thinking, progressive, and have a strong commitment to encouraging and promoting CPD.

Dependent on the role, your specific interests and service demands you will hold a caseload of children with neurological, developmental and musculoskeletal conditions, working closely with your Band 7 supervisor, OT colleagues and Therapy assistants to provide holistic care to maximise the children's ability to return to or achieve their optimum abilities.

You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and monitoring of children with a wide range of conditions in addition to the assessment and provision of specialist paediatric equipment, orthotic requirements and identification and management of children with postural care needs.

Working together with families and colleagues from health, education, social care and wheelchair services, you will provide physiotherapy input to support children to achieve their Education and Healthcare plan outcomes.

As your knowledge, experience and confidence develops through our competency framework, more autonomy with complex caseloads and service development will be introduced to develop your skills further, preparing you for your next stage in your career.

The Paediatric Therapy team is supportive of each other and driven to achieve the best outcomes for the children and young people of Salford.

There is an established well-being programme for staff both in the team and within the wider organisation and a range of activities to welcome new starters into the team.
