This is a varied and rewarding role where you will be the welcoming face of the school, providing a professional reception service and supporting the wider administration team. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school office, helping staff, students, and visitors alike. As Receptionist / Administrator, you will manage front of house duties, operate the switchboard, and carry out a range of administrative tasks including reprographics, email inbox management, and first aid support. You will need excellent communication and ICT skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work flexibly as part of a close-knit team.
Responsibilities
* Welcoming visitors and managing the school's main reception.
* Operating the switchboard, directing incoming calls and enquiries to the appropriate department or staff member, while ensuring effective gatekeeping and professional communication.
* Providing general administrative support including email inbox management, post distribution, and document updates.
* Supporting reprographics and resource production for all departments.
* Using systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and the school's MIS system - Bromcom.
* Maintaining signing-in records, and daily fire drill lists.
* Assisting with school visit payments and distributing letters via Bromcom.
* Preparing refreshments for meetings and events.
* Supporting first aid provision and maintaining accurate records.
* Covering for other team members when needed.
Qualifications
* Experienced in receptionist or administrative work, ideally in a school setting.
* Skilled in ICT, especially Word and Excel.
* Organised, adaptable, and able to manage a varied workload in a busy environment. Strong prioritisation skills are essential to succeed in this role.
* A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
* A team player with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
* A qualified First Aider or willing to undertake training.
* Committed to safeguarding and confidentiality.
Hours and Salary
* 35 hours per week, term time plus 5 days (including 3 staff training days).
* Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 3.45pm, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break. (Grade 4)
* Full-time salary (52 weeks / 37 hours) From: £24,795 to £25,583.
* Actual salary (195 days / 35 hours) From: £20,084 to £20,722.
