Job Title: Senior Cyber Security Consultant – Energy Sector
Location: You’ll work where the client needs you. Which could be London, Guildford, or a muddy substation off the M20. Hybrid model in theory, but reality… boots on ground matter.
Salary: Happy to talk up to around the £70,000 mark.
Why this role?
The UK’s energy infrastructure is under constant threat. From hostile actors, ageing systems, dodgy third‑party vendors, and the odd overzealous intern with admin rights. We need people who understand complex, layered risk and can translate regulatory frameworks into operational reality.
Responsibilities
* Advising energy companies, regulators, and infrastructure providers on how not to get breached – or fined.
* Writing documentation that doesn’t send readers into a coma.
* Working within and around frameworks like NCSC CAF, NIST and IEC 62443, and sometimes whatever the client’s CISO found on page 4 of Google.
* Translating technical risk into business risk, and business risk into boardroom decisions.
What you’ll need to bring
* 5+ years working with complex ICT systems – ideally in or around Critical National Infrastructure and Operational Technology.
* A decent understanding of enterprise ICT and cloud environments.
* Strong opinions, loosely held, and the ability to back them up without being a jerk.
* Experience dealing with risk frameworks – and the good sense to know when to bend them (but not break them).
* Bonus points if you’ve worked in the energy, utilities, or wider CNI sectors before. If you’ve seen the inside of a substation, that counts too.
* You’ll need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance. No exceptions.
* You’ll be part of a genuinely smart team at a consultancy that’s NCSC-assured.
* Travel will be a thing. Sometimes all week. Sometimes not. Just don’t expect to hide behind a webcam forever.
What’s in it for you?
* Career progression without selling your soul to management jargon.
* Funded training (not just the checkbox kind).
* Projects that matter. Like helping keep the UK’s energy infrastructure secure, resilient, and future‑proof.
