We’re looking to recruit an experienced PCN Level 1 or 2 qualified Railway Axles Ultrasonic Tester (UAT) to join us as the Team Leader for the NDT Field team. The primary purpose of this role is to lead Non-Destructive Test (NDT) services to our key contracts by conducting on-site inspection and testing in accordance with our procedures and industry standards to meet our contractual obligations in line with customer expectations.
The requirement to work remotely at customer sites may come at short notice; whilst this is managed well a high level of flexibility is required. Travel, accommodation, and overnight allowances when staying away from home will be available; there is also a premium applied when overnight shift working.

Key Accountabilities
1. Actively support the Engineering Services Manager to plan and prepare documentation, personnel, and equipment to achieve contract delivery.
2. SRTS customer liaison for on-site activities.
3. Responsible person for on-site problem solving and decision making to achieve customer delivery.
4. Provide remote support to the NDT Field Engineering team/customers as required.
5. Responsible for ensuring the tools, equipment and PPE required for team on-site activities are in supply, in-date calibration (including and stand-by spares).
6. Identify and lead improvement activities.
7. Seek business development opportunities.
8. Ensure work is conducted in accordance with all relevant standards and Health and Safety standards.
9. Demonstrate professionalism when communicating with customers, prospects, and external authorities.
10. Recognise areas for personal and professional development and actively pursue.
11. Proactively manage own day to day workload.
12. Support the technical and professional development of the NDT Field Engineering team.
13. Deliver technical findings/reports to SRTS and (as required) to the customer.
14. Actively represent SRTS in external arenas
What you’ll need to do the role:
15. Essential - PCN Railway Axles Ultrasonic Tester (PCN Level 1 or 2)
16. Experience as NDT practitioner in the rail industry.
17. Proven leadership qualities
18. Good level of competency and use of Microsoft Office.
19. Numerate, accurate, with a good level of literacy.
20. Ability to work autonomously and make pragmatic decisions.
21. Good timekeeping.
22. High degree of flexibility and can deal with ambiguity.
23. Flexible to travel to customers across the UK.
