Locations: We have 2 work locations in South Oxfordshire – One at our Grove facility which is located in a new building on the recently developed Grove Business Park, and one in Ardington less than 10 minutes away within an easy commute from areas of Reading, Swindon, Newbury and Oxford The Role Our new Finance Director will provide strategic financial and business support leadership, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and support for sustainable growth. As a key member of our leadership team and a statutory director, you will shape our strategic direction and partner with all business functions to support our purpose-driven growth model. Key Responsibilities This diverse role is a true business partner and leads and oversees finance, IT and sustainability for our company: Finance Serve as a hands-on finance leader with responsibility for oversight and protection of the financial integrity of the company and its assets Ensure that the company’s accounts and records are properly maintained according to IFRS and Group accounting standards; deliver appropriate statutory, tax and regulatory reports and returns in required timeframes and formats Track business performance and manage risks and opportunities in a ‘no surprise’ culture; proactively identify, highlight and communicate opportunities, issues and trends Perform financial planning & analysis functions including strategic planning, competitive analysis, budgeting, forecasting and operational analyses to inform strategic and tactical decisions made by the company Provide high quality management information, improving business insights Maintain and strengthen appropriate internal (financial) controls and risk management processes, which meet or exceed Halma minimum requirements; own, proactively communicate and resolve (potential) governance issues Prepare financial and action plans for proposed new ventures, as well as root cause identification and action plans to achieve financial commitments Maintain good working relationships with the companies’ bankers, auditors, lawyers and other professional advisers Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement Mentor, coach and develop finance professionals Compliance Oversee all aspects of compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements as well as Halma and Navtech internal policies Continually assess and upgrade controls framework including policies and processes to prevent and address regulatory breaches and internal risks Provide guidance and oversight to ensure our controls framework meets and ideally exceeds minimum Halma requirements Work with external auditors and legal advisers as necessary IT & Business Systems Provide strategic direction and line management to the Navtech IT resource, partnering with the Halma IT Shared Services function to ensure that Navtech’s information and business systems are fit for purpose, secure, reliable, and robust. Ensure the integration and effectiveness of ERP systems, business analytics, and other technological tools to support financial reporting and analysis and overall business effectiveness Business Partnering Serve as an advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team in evaluating the financial condition of the organization, proactively recommending actions, reorganizations etc. Collaborate with the leadership team/ cross-functional teams to optimise operational processes and drive efficiency without compromising quality Assess and clearly communicate financial implications of planned changes in the business Continually assess and develop (financial) metrics that link to the strategic plan to allow effective monitoring of achievements against annual objectives and long-term targets Be an effective change agent within finance, the company, Sector, Halma; this includes identifying change, resourcing as well as managing those changes to achieve desired outcomes Sustainability Own Sustainability at the board level, ensuring that the company continually seeks to do more good than harm and increases positive impact over time. Qualifications & Experience Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within an SME Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
