Mortality & Learning From Deaths Coordinator

The closing date is 20 May 2026

This is an exciting opportunity to take up a newly created post, joining the Clinical Audit and Mortality team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will work with the Head of Clinical Audit & Mortality and Trust's Mortality Lead (Associate Medical Director for Clinical Safety) to develop, support and administer the effective running of the Trust's mortality governance, the mortality review process and ensure that effective and implemented learning takes place.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the clinical effectiveness, patient safety, clinical governance, service and information teams (including external services). They must be able to work independently, self‑generating a significant proportion of their workload through investigation, engagement and from good practice, helping to identify and set clear targets for themselves, services and the Trust.

Person Specification


Qualifications & Training

* Educated to Degree level or equivalent evidence.
* Mentorship/teaching qualification or relevant experience.
* Master's Degree
* Participation in audit and quality issues


Knowledge & Experience

* Working knowledge of learning from deaths and its application within an acute provider
* Experience of producing and delivering reports for governance processes and audit.
* Experience of delivering improvements in patient safety and quality.
* Structured Judgement review experience and training.
* Understands and participates in evidence based practice.
* Knowledge of patient safety


Personal Attributes & Skills

* Professional approach
* Motivated and adaptable to learning new skills that meet service needs
* Able to communicate at all levels, including external stakeholder liaison
* Able to work as an individual and part of a team with experience of working with multi‑agency - multi‑disciplinary teams
* Scheduling Structured Judgement Reviews (SJR) through the SJR Plus platform
