Job Summary
ScientistI – Product Support Technical team (2‑year fixed‑term contract). Reporting to the Product Support lead, the role involves developing practical laboratory skills and analytical techniques, performing data interpretation, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and participating in continuous improvement and project work.
Responsibilities
* Perform assigned laboratory practical work, including housekeeping, equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
* Participate in assigned projects or troubleshooting work, collating, analysing and interpreting data.
* Document all work according to QuidelOrtho standards and procedures.
* Plan and execute own work effectively, provide support and suggestions to peers.
* Build technical knowledge through targeted learning to fully participate in cross‑functional projects.
* Provide timely updates on work activities to all relevant parties.
* Maintain a safe working environment, proactively identify hazards and comply with UK Health and Safety legislation.
* Develop proposals for process improvement and present findings.
* Ensure integrity and quality of supporting documentation and quality records.
* Assist in implementing improvements and remain open to innovative concepts.
* Drive continuous improvement of processes within the group to provide high levels of customer service.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
* Experience performing laboratory work and using statistical tools (Minitab or equivalent) in investigations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Positive can‑do attitude, ability to follow through on commitments and take on stretch assignments.
* Computer literate and able to record experimental work accurately.
* Understanding of the principles of immunoassay / immunohaematology.
* Effective teamwork and collaboration skills across functions.
* Adaptability to rapid change and ability to maintain output in a dynamic environment while meeting project timelines.
* Commitment to achieving agreed goals and a sense of urgency.
* Ability to plan own time and adjust plans accordingly.
