Part-Time Accountant
Location: Watford
Hours: 25 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 per annum (FTE),£25kpa- Pro- rata salary
Are you an experienced Accountant looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity within a growing SME B2B environment? We're seeking a hands-on finance professional to take ownership of key accounting processes and play an integral role in a small, collaborative team.
This is a varied role where you'll be responsible for the smooth running of the purchase ledger, while also supporting wider finance operations and working closely with Credit Control to ensure consistency across the function.
What you'll be doing:
Managing the full purchase ledger cycle, from invoice processing through to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities
Performing daily bank reconciliations across multiple currencies (GBP, EUR, USD)
Handling payments, receipts, and complex retailer remittances, including rebates and discounts
Processing supplier invoices, expenses, and credit notes, and reconciling supplier statements
Running bi-monthly payment runs
Managing international purchases, including customs duties and VAT
Sales Ledger & Support:
Working closely with the Credit Controller/Sales Ledger function on a daily basis
Supporting and providing cover for Credit Control when needed
Reconciling complex remittances from large retailers, including Amazon-related transactions
VAT & Compliance:
Preparing and submitting UK VAT returns
Managing international VAT filings (including EU countries), EC Sales Lists, Intrastat, and OSS
Liaising with external accountants and providing quarterly information for management accounts
Reporting & Analysis:
Producing quarterly management reports and supporting year-end processes
Preparing margin analysis, including landed costs such as freight and duties
Creating ad hoc reports and analysis using Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs)
About you:
Previous experience in a similar Accountant or Bookkeeping role, ideally within an SME
Strong understanding of purchase ledger, VAT, and multi-currency transactions
Comfortable working with large data sets and Excel-based reporting
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
A team player who enjoys working collaboratively in a close-knit environment
