Job Description:
Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Proposal Manager to lead the development of competitive, technically sound, and commercially viable proposals for utility-scale renewable energy projects. This role is central to our business development efforts, working closely with engineering, commercial, and project delivery teams to craft compelling bids and proposals for solar PV, BESS, and associated infrastructure.
You will play a key role in shaping project strategies, coordinating tender responses, and ensuring alignment with client requirements and internal capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Proposal Development: Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for EPC and turnkey renewable energy projects, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and competitiveness.
* Bid Coordination: Manage end-to-end bid processes, including PQQ, RFI, and ITT/RFP analysis, scope definition, documentation, and submission in line with UK procurement standards.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with engineering, legal, finance, and project teams to gather inputs and align proposal content.
* Client Engagement: Interface with clients during pre-bid and post-submission phases to clarify requirements and present solutions.
* Cost Estimation & Value Engineering: Collaborate with internal teams to develop cost estimates and identify value engineering opportunities.
* Risk & Compliance Review: Ensure proposals meet technical standards (e.g., G99/G100, CDM Regulations), commercial expectations, and compliance with ESG and internal governance.
* Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and client preferences to inform proposal strategy.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the refinement of proposal templates, processes, and tools to improve efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in proposals, bid management, or technical sales within the renewable energy or EPC sector, ideally with UK or European project experience.
* Strong understanding of solar PV, BESS, HV systems, and Balance of Plant (BoP) components.
* Experience coordinating complex bids and working with UK and international clients.
* Familiarity with UK procurement portals (e.g., Contracts Finder, Achilles) and public/private sector tendering processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and proposal management tools.
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively across teams.
* Chartered Engineer status or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IET, CIBSE) is advantageous.
* Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
