Kent Junior School of Fashion & Arts is seeking a passionate, patient, and creative individual to join our growing team as an Assistant Creative Tutor for our Saturday Club provision.
We are a not-for-profit creative education organisation committed to nurturing the next generation of designers, makers, thinkers, and innovators. Through sewing, fashion design, sustainability projects, drawing, painting, and creative exploration, we provide a safe and inspiring environment where young people aged 6–16 can build confidence, technical skills, and a strong sense of identity through creativity.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and young people, has a strong sewing foundation, and believes in the transformative power of creative education.
About Our Saturday Club
Our Saturday provision is more than a sewing class. It is a structured creative development programme that:

As an Assistant Creative Tutor, you will support the Lead Tutors in delivering engaging, structured sessions that reflect our ethos of excellence, care, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Creative Support
* Assist in delivering engaging and structured sewing and creative arts sessions.
* Support young creatives in developing practical skills in garment construction, hand sewing, machine sewing, drawing, painting, and mixed media.
* Help prepare materials, demonstrations, and resources before sessions.
* Encourage originality, experimentation, and thoughtful design development.
2. Individual Learning Support
* Provide one-to-one and small group guidance during project work.
* Support learners of varying ages (6–16) and abilities with patience and clarity.
* Help build confidence in students who may require additional encouragement.
3. Classroom & Studio Management
* Assist in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and focused studio environment.
* Model professionalism, respect, and creative discipline.
* Support behaviour management in line with safeguarding and inclusion policies.
4. Health & Safety
* Ensure safe use of sewing machines, scissors, cutting tools, and studio equipment.
* Monitor workspace organisation and safe working practices at all times.
* Adhere to safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
5. Team Collaboration
* Work closely with the Lead Tutors and Creative Head.
* Attend team briefings or meetings as required.
* Contribute ideas that enhance programme quality and student experience
Essential Skills & Experience
* A minimum of Intermediate sewing skills (confident with sewing machines, and able to work with commercial patterns. We provide our Team with further training and learning).
* Understanding of creative processes including design development and experimentation.
* Good, respectful communication skills that support positive relationships with children and young people.
* Good organisational ability and time management.
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
Desirable
* Background in fashion design, textiles, costume, or fine art.
* Experience working with children or young people (formal teaching experience desirable but not essential).
* Experience supporting mixed-age groups.
* Knowledge of sustainable fashion or upcycling practices.
* Creative industry or workshop facilitation experience.
Safeguarding
An DBS check is required for this role.

Saturdays during term time
